Michael Veerapen


Michael Veerapen is an established jazz pianist, producer, record studio head, mentor and co-founder of the Malaysian Jazz Piano Festival. He launched his career even before graduating from the prestigious Berklee College of Music with Summa Cum Laude in 1982. At the 2017 SEA Games grand opening ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur, Michael was the music director, composer, and orchestrator, which was broadcasted live to all major ASEAN countries. Michael has also composed and directed several highly successful musicals, including ‘SuperMokh’ and ‘Lat Kampung Boy’ – for which he won the coveted BOH Cameronian Award for Best Composer.
